Cape Town — Striking members of the immigration service will have to return to work if yesterday's application by home affairs to have immigration declared an essential service is approved today.
Home Affairs Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula said before her budget vote on Wednesday that because of the damage to the economy that could result from chaos at entry points to the country, the department had applied to have its immigration division declared an essential service.
