Nigeria: Fire Guts Governor's Residence

Owerri — Barely a week after Imo State Governor, Chief Ikedi Ohakim packed into his temporary residence at the Government House, Owerri, popularly called Douglas House, the wooden structure was raised down by fire yesterday's afternoon, leaving the place a shadow of its old self.

Acting Secretary to the State Government, Chief Chris Okewulonu in his reaction alleged that it was the handiwork of saboteurs who are not happy with the new government.
