Kenya: Athletics - Nyaruai Sends Out Warning With Win At Meet

Nairobi — World youth 3,000m champion Veronica Nyaruai sent out a clear signal of her intention this season by finishing first in her race when she clocked 4:17.4 to beat her rivals as this year's Triangular Athletic Championships got underway in Nairobi yesterday.

In what looked like a lone horse race, the world champion had to compete against time opening a big gap between her and the opponents. Nyaruai who is also the world 6km world cross country bronze medallist brushed off competition from a determined Sammary Cherotich 4:23.8 and Sheila Chepkurui 4:24.4 who settled for second and third places respectively.
