Luanda — Angolan ministry of Culture (Mincult) and the National Diamond Company (Endiama) will sign Friday in Luanda a memorandum on the restoration of the Palácio de Ferro (Iron Palace).
According to a Mincult press release that reached Angop, the intention is to allow Endiama to carry out the work of restoration of infra-structures without any legal constraints.
The signing ceremony will be attended by the Culture minister, Boaventura Cardoso, Endiama managing board and directors of various institutions.
Early in this month, Mincult approved the executive restoration project, presented by Endiama, thus acknowledging the need for restoring the architectonic building named Palácio de Ferro (Iron Palace), classified by dispatch nº 37/77 of August 6, as a Historical Heritage.
The rehabilitation work that started in March this year will also include the restoring of buildings surrounding the site and is expected to last 14 month, under the Brazilian construction company, Odebrecht.
The country's diamond company intends to transform the Iron Palace into a Diamond Museum.
An Angolan historical and cultural heritage, the Iron Palace was designed by French Gustave Eiffel and built in XIX century.
