Munyonyo — EAST Africa is steadily overtaking the Caribbean region in trafficking in drugs and humans including organised crime, the director of operations in United Nation Office on Drugs and Crime Jeffrey Avina has said.
"East Africa is becoming more a target for organised crime. The drug [dealings] that used to be done in the Caribbean are done in East Africa," Mr Avina said during the first regional anti-human trafficking conference yesterday.
