South Africa: Government Imposes Ultimatum to End Public Service Strike

Johannesburg — TALKS to end the three-weeks-old public service strike will resume today with indications that unions may agree to the government's new offer.

Although unions have been adamant that the state's wage increase offer of 7,5% is too low, the government has added other incentives in the agreements to the final package which will make it hard for labour to resist.
