South Africa: Strict New Controls On Social Grants

The files of all social grants paid out in the Western Cape will be kept in a single warehouse in a bid to cut down on "potential fraud" and to keep a close eye on the validity of such payouts.

Waldie Terreblanche of the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) told the standing committee on public accounts (Scopa) that the centralisation of the system would take place on July 1 in a building in the city centre.
