Nigeria: Gowon Takes Prayer Project to Gusau

Gusau — Former Head of State and chairman of Nigeria Prays, General Yakubu Gowon has called on all Nigerians to continue to offer prayers for the country to attain greatness among the comity of nations.

He made the plea on arrival to Gusau for a one-day national prayer rally in the North West political zone of the country.

Gowon, who paid a homage to the Emir of Gusau, Alhaji Kabir Dan Baba, thanked him for the warm reception.

He told the Emir that the congregation will offer prayers to God to shower rain of blessings to the land so that farmers will plant in good time for harvest, especially as Gusau has been without adequate rainfall for long this year.

Responding, Alhaji Kabir Dan Baba thanked Gowon and his entourage and prayed Allah to reward them.

At the state governor's residence, the Zamfara State governor, Alhaji Mahmuda Aliyu Shinkafi described Gowon as a pace-setter, while commending his efforts in eradicating guinea worms in the country.

On the programme "Nigeria Prays" initiated by Gowon, the governor said it has helped in uniting Nigerians.

Earlier, Gowon told the governor that he would continue to serve humanity. He congratulated the governor for being the only Deputy Governor in the country who succeeded the governor of his state.

The one day prayer rally was held at the Evangelical Church of West Africa Cathedral Gusau.
