Gambia: Canada's Discrimination

A wave of shock rocked Banjul, when 235 out of 250 Gambian football fans were refused visas by the Canadian Embassy in Accra, thus, evaporating their hopes of cheering up the Gambia's Under-20 team in the ongoing Fifa U-20 World Cup in Toronto.

According to reports that made headlines in both the electronic and print media, Immigration Canada felt the Gambian fans have no responsibility and are unmarried. Another ill-conceived reason was that the fans have no traveling history. As a result, they suspected, without genuine basis, that the fans planned to stay in Canada illegally.
