Nigeria: Stakeholders Meet to Harmonise Maritime International Labour Convention

Stakeholders in the shipping sector of the maritime industry recently met in Lagos at a workshop organised by the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) to deliberate on issues concerning working condition of seafarers', even as they (seafarers') accused shipowners of exploitation and inhuman treatment.

The workshop is one of the processes put together by NIMASA to enable stakeholders contribute to the rectification of the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 which was the outcome of Resolution No.1 adopted at the 95th Session of the International Labour Conference.
