Nigeria: Yar'Adua Wants Country's Constitution Reviewed

Abuja — President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua has said the country's Constitution would be reviewed under his administration and would include an amendment that would provide a role for traditional leaders through the creation of a National Council of Traditional Rulers.

The President who said his predecessor was not able to review the constitution "due to some circumstances", however said he would keep to his promise of giving due recognition to the nation's traditional institution as an avenue to improve on the quality of governance in the country.
