Kampala — PENTECOSTAL churches are investigating a city pastor accused of engaging in sodomy.
"The National fellowship of Born-again Pentecostal Churches of Uganda has set up its own committee to investigate the allegations against Kitaka," the chairperson, Pastor Alex Mitala, announced yesterday.
This followed reports that Pastor Grace Kitaka of Liberty Worship Centre, headed by Pastor Imelda Namutebi, sodomised a boy.
Mitala said Pentecostal churches are against homosexuality or activities related to the act.
"We strongly condemn the practice as an abomination in accordance with the teachings of the bible."
Kitaka should be investigated and prosecuted if found guilty, Mitala stressed.
"We warn all born-again Christians against all forms of sexual perversion and we state that sodomy has never been and will never be acceptable in the balokole (born again) community. And it is illegal under the laws of Uganda." Mitala applauded Kitaka for resigning, saying the move would promote integrity in their churches.
Meanwhile, Pentecostal churches have distanced themselves from a pastor who allegedly imported an electronic device to hoodwink people that he had divine powers.
"The said Obiri Yeboah Korji has never been a member and does not belong to any known pastoral team under our umbrella.
"He is a Ghanaian and is not known to us as a member of the born-again community in Uganda. This is a religious gimmick from people who want to make us look like fools," he lamented.
