Nigeria: Super 16 Africa Rugby Underway

Lagos — The long awaited Super 16 African Rugby League and Confederation of African Rugby U18 West African Rugby Championship kicked-off Tuesday at the University of Lagos Sports Complex will end tomorrow.

The Togolese Rugby National Team tackled their Ghanaian counterpart in an explosive encounter at the much-delayed opening game due to logistics problem . The Togolese Rugby National Team defeated the Ghanaians by 21 Points to 10 points.

In the Second match which was the Star Match of the day, the host and defending Champions Nigeria made good there promise by demolishing their Republic of Benin counterpart by 36 points to 6points in an exciting encounter.

Nigeria's scored 6 Trys and 3 Conversions from Winger- Tata Alhassan (1Try), 1st Center- Obinna Alaeto (2Trys), substitute Winger-Ade Kwara (1Try), Srum half- Sanni Halilu (1Try), Lock-Adebambo Aderemi who was also sent off for a second bookable offence (1Try), while superb Kicker and Fly-Half Azeez Ladipo got in the 3 Conversions.

Meanwhile, tomorrow will witness the second round matches of the Super 16 African Rugby League with two matches. At 3pm Nigeria will once again step out against Ghana, while Togo will trade tackles with Benin Republic at 5pm at the University of Lagos Sports Complex.
