Sudan: Tripoli Meeting On Darfur Issue Concludes

Asmara — The meeting on the Darfur issue that was held in Libya has concluded.

The meeting aimed at inducing those movements that did not sign agreement to bring them closer with the Sudanese government concluded its session after agreeing to make the necessary preparations for holding the next meeting in Arusha, Tanzania.

The meeting that would be conducted by the Untied Nations, the African Union, and countries of the region, namely Eritrea, Chad and Libya would draw up the necessary agenda towards consummation of the peace process.

After expressing appreciation to the efforts made by the countries of the region i.e. Eritrea, Chad and Libya, as well as the progress registered thereof, as regards uniting different organizations on the one hand and the consummation of the peace process in Sudan on the other, the meeting agreed that there should be no attempt made in the guise of "initiative" other than the aforementioned countries and their partners, that is to say Eritrea, Chad and Libya, as well as the UN and the AU.

An Eritrean delegation headed by Mr. Yemane Gebreab, Head of the Political Affairs at the PFDJ, took part in the meeting.
