Kampala — A Ugandan lawyer, Prof. Daniel David Ntanda Nsereko, has been nominated by the Government for the post of Judge of the International Criminal Court.
He is awaiting elections scheduled for the 6th session of the Assembly of States Parties that will run from november 30 to December 14, according to Renan Villacis, the Director of the secretariat of the Assembly. The Government described Nsereko, a professor of Law at the University of Botswana, as a man of integrity who enjoys a reputation of high moral character and impartiality.
"The Uganda Permanent Mission to the UN further informs that due to his established competence in criminal law and procedure, Prof. Nsereko is nominated for inclusion in List "A"," a statement from the mission to the Secretariat of the Assembly read.
The government said the professor is recognised for his outstanding knowledge of international Law, International Criminal Law, International Humanitarian Law and his skills as a trial lawyer.
Nsereko holds a Doctorate in Juridical Science from New York University, two masters degrees and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Dar es Salaam. He has also served as an advocate of the High Court of Uganda.
