Kampala — THE United States Agency for International Development (Usaid) has pledged to continue supporting education in the country. Margot Ellis, the Usaid mission director, told stakeholders at the closing of the national education conference at the Sheraton Hotel, Kampala that education programmes would be implemented under a new initiative called Unity.
"The American people, through the United States government, are proud to partner with you. While the Uganda Program for Human and Holistic Development (Uphold) is winding up its work in the education sector, Usaid will continue supporting the sector through the new education support initiative called UNITY," said Ellis.
She explained that the three-year programme would focus on professional development, the expansion of the President's Initiative for Aids Strategy Communication to the Youth (Piascy), parental and community participation in education and education policy support.
