Nigeria: Abia Plans Law On School Enrolment

Umuahia — The Abia State government is enhancing school enrolment through a bill, which if passed into law, would make it a punishable offence for parents and guardians to keep their children or wards out of school.

Governor Theodore Orji, who disclosed the plans at the launch of four 54-seater buses to flag off the commencement of free transport service and distribution of free exercise books to pupils and students in the state, said both pupils/students and their parents would be punished for truancy.
