Luanda — The national soccer team is already in Gaberone, capital of Botswana, to face on Saturday their counterpart of Lesotho, in a semi-finals match of the regional tournament of Southern Africa countries (Cosafa Cup).
The squad of 20 players trained for one day in South Africa at FNB stadium in Johannesburg.
In the only training match played in the Angolan capital, the national team drew 2-2 with Benfica de Luanda, of the local first division championship.
In case of a win against Lesotho, at Gaberone national stadium, the Angolan will play against Namibia or Botswana on Sunday.
For the competition, the national coach Oliveira Gonçalves selected 20 players: Lamá, Yamba Asha, Lebo Lebo, Chara, Santana, Manucho, Mabiná, David, Joãozinho, Miro, Locó, Love, Jamba, Simão, Nuno, Yuri, Pedro Henriques, Avex, Nelo and Gildo.
Angola won the 1999, 2001 and 2004 editions of the Cosafa Cup, under the guidance of coaches Djalma Cavalcanti (Brazilian) and the Angolans Mário Calado and Oliveira Gonçalves, respectively. The finals of the competition will be played between October 20 and 21 at a venue to be announced.
Zambia are the titleholders.
