Eritrea: President Inaugurates National Festival 2007

President Isaias Afwerki today inaugurated Eritrea Festival 2007 at the national level at the Expo grounds. He was accorded warm welcome by representatives of the nation's nine ethnic groups, accompanied by Ministers, regional Administrators, Army commanders and other government officials, as well as religious leaders.

Following the official opening of the Festival, President Isaias visited the different produce on display, education corner, sites of regional quarters and others. Thousands of nationals from different parts of the country are also taking part in the Festival.

A cultural presentation at Cinema Odeon here in the capital last night highlighted different programs including songs, dances and drama performances that reflect the steadfastness, spirit of sacrifice and the culture as well as tradition of the Eritrean people.

The Festival that would continue till August 5 is featuring sites of regional quarters, children's corner, educational and documentation presentations, drama shows, films, painting, photography, works of handicraft, traditional sports competitions, poetry recitals, short stories and the like, in addition to bazaars.
