Etsha 1 in the Okavango Sub-District will host this year's home economics craft show on August 11.

Etsha area has been chosen to host the annual showpiece because it is renowned for its unique basket weaving, says Home Economics Officer for Okavango, Ms Gomolemo Tembwe.

Ms Tembwe said in an interview that the aim of the event was to market the craft products nationally and internationally.

The show also seeks to bring different craftsmen and women from different areas to Okavango to share ideas, skills and to compete among themselves.

She said the other aim was to promote the culture of crafting in the area as well as to sell crafts. The theme for this year is: "Your Shopping Spring Oasis."

Ms Tembwe appealed to the public in the Okavango area to attend the show in large numbers so as to promote community empowerment and buy products made within the community. Last year's show was in Shakawe. BOPA
