Burundi: Mr. Bizimana Isaac, the Burundi's Central Bank Governor Arrested

Bujumbura — Burundi's central bank governor, Mr. Bizimana Isaac was arrested early today under warrant issued by Burundi attorney general on charges of plundering state funds of more than 23 billion Burundi Francs.

According to Burundi anti-graft body,Mr. Bizimana was arrested following an investigation on a petroleum importing firm, Interpetrol. It was discovered that the government paid the firm three times for oil importation.

Before becoming Burundi's central bank governor, Isaac Bizimana was the director in the 2nd vice presidential cabinet. Mr. Bizimana is also suspected of having had some involvement in the embazzlement of the proceeds of the presidential airplane, Falcon 50.

People who new Mr. Bizimana in Canada had forewarned of his crooked habits shortly after his nomination by President Nkurunziza.
