Mendefera — Eritreans residing abroad have donated about 5 million Nakfa to 839 martyrs' families in 10 sub-zones of the Southern region.

According to the head of welfare in the region, Mr. Tesfaendrias Abraham, the donors are from Germany, U.S, Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi and Israel, and that each family received 450 Nakfa per month up to a total of 12,000 Nakfa for 2 years.

Mr. Tesfaendrias further indicated that there are over 10,000 needy martyrs' families and that the present donation covered only 20% of them. He also called on other citizens to extend similar assistance.

The beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the assistance extended to them by the people and government.
