Nigeria: American Varsity Partners UI, ABU On Aids Research

Abuja — The University of Maryland, Baltimore, United States of America, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Ibadan, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and the Institute of Human Virology, Nigeria on research and capacity building programme geared towards providing a remedy for the dreaded Human Immuno-deficiency Virus (HIV), using some rare specie of herbs found in Nigeria.

Under the pact, the University of Maryland Institute of Human Virology will in collaboration with its affiliate, the Institute of Human Virology, Nigeria train a select crop of university teachers on possible conversion of indigenous medicinal plants into anti-retroviral drugs for the management of the disease.
