Eritrea: Country Festival 2007 Colorfully Conducted in Toronto

Toronto — Eritrea Festival 2007 was colorfully conducted in Toronto, Canada, from August 3 to 6. The four-day festival highlighted seminars, different sports activities, shows of traditional dresses and dances of the 9 Eritrean ethnic groups that was organized by the National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students (NUEYS) and PFDJ youths, as well as songs by Tesfa cultural troupe.

The PFDJ Secretary, Mr. Al-Amin Mohammed Seid, and other government officials were accorded colorful welcome at the opening ceremony. He gave in-depth seminar on economic, political and regional issues as well as the objective situation in the Homeland. Reports indicated that this year's festival in Toronto further demonstrated Eritrean unity and nationals renewed their pledge.

The newly appointed Eritrean Ambassador to Canada, Mr. Ahferom Berhane, Eritrea's Ambassador to North America, Mr. Girmai Gebremariam, the Permanent Representative at the UN, Ambassador Araya Desta, and the Eritrean Consul General in Canada, Ms. Nura Mohammed Omar, as well as other PFDJ representatives attended the event.

Over 10,000 Eritrean citizens from different Canadian and American cities took part in the Festival. Besides, Salina cultural troupe from Asmara staged songs, thus adding color to the festival.
