Eritrea: Micro-Dam Renovated in Dubarwa Sub-Zone

A micro-dam with a capacity of holding 120,000 cubic meters in Bet-Gabriel, Dubarwa sub-zone, has been renovated.

According to Mr. Eyassu Asefaw, head of the branch office of the Ministry of Agriculture in the sub-zone, a 1.5-meter depth has been added to the micro-dam and that the local inhabitants have been putting in places catchments and terraces. The micro-dam could facilitate irrigation farming of 10 hectares, he added.

Previously, the inhabitants of Bet-Gabriel and Adi-Ogbit used to travel for 3 hours to fetch water. Meanwhile, the inhabitants of Adi-Felesti administrative area have constructed catchments and put in place terraces as part of soil and water conservation endeavors.

Adi-Felesti with a population of 700 is located 28 km. North-west of Dubarwa town.
