Uganda: Target Educated Mothers Too

Kampala — LAST week was the international breastfeeding week with the theme "early initiation and exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months". The Government, Unicef and other stakeholders should be commended for the efforts to encourage breastfeeding.

Despite what the manufacturers of formula milk may say, breast milk is the best food for the baby for the first six months of life. The benefits of breast milk are innumerable. They include strengthening the baby's ability to fight the childhood killer diseases and allergies and the mother's ability to fight diabetes and breast cancer.
