Bujumbura

Former combatants and loyal army forces personnel who were disabled during the war have demonstrated in front of the President's office this Monday 13 August 2007.

They demand a special statute, better accommodation facilities and the payment of their salaries. These soldiers include the sub-officers and simple soldiers who were wounded during the war that started in 1993.

Before the end of the war they were living in military camps of the former Burundian army and had their regular salaries. Now they have been demobilized.
