UNFPA has donated US$500,000 to the Liberia Institute of Statistics and Geo-Information Services (LISGIS) to bolster its operation.
UNFPA Programme Coordinator, Ibrahim Sambuli, said about US$300,000 will be made available at the end of August while the balance will be ready next year.
Meanwhile, Liberia Institute of Statistics and Geo-Information Services (LISGIS) launched the Liberia-Info net, a user friendly database management system.
LISGIS Executive Director, Dr. Edward Liberty told participants at a one-day workshop held last Friday in Monrovia that the Liberia-Info contained statistical surveys that could be made available to users.
"This has already started with the inclusion of the main surveys implemented until now" said Dr. Liberty.
He said the main source of information includes the pending 2008 National Population and housing Census (NPHC), adding, the base statistics is the Liberia Demographic and Health Survey, core welfare indicators questionnaires, among others.
