A website to help the youth find jobs has been launched in Accra.
The site known as "jobsinghana.com" will make it easier for people, especially the youth in and outside the country to know the various vacancies available at work places.
Speaking at the launch of the site, the Minister of Communication, Dr. Benjamin Aggrey Ntim said the creating of "jobsinghana.com" shows that ICT holds immense promise as its deployment is rapidly changing and opening new avenues of relationships between citizens, the government and the greater participation of all in civic life.
He said the Ministry of Communications has welcomed the innovation of "smart jobs" to complement government's efforts of recruitment through the digital process.
Dr. Aggrey challenged young entrepreneurs and others in the IT Industry to set targets for the years ahead and increase their activities in research and development.
"You should also lead the crusade in the development of local entrepreneurial skills in ICT development." he said
The Chief Executive Officer of 'jobsinghana.com', Mr. Richard Baffour said, he came up with the website because of the many challenges that employers and job seekers face.
"The task of finding the most suitable candidates for a position and the decision to outsource staffing causes a real problem these days".
He said the service is free to jobseekers but employers would have to pay a fee to advertise vacancies or search for candidates; still a fraction of the current cost of recruiting through other media.
A representative of the Ministry of Manpower, Youth and Employment, Mr. Ernest Adade said the website would create awareness among Ghanaians and announce to the whole world that the nation is growing.
"The site will also elaborate more on the success chalked by the National Youth Employment Programme." he said.
