Kampala — A TEAM of 14 doctors will offer free surgery to patients with hand problems from August 19-24 at Kumi Hospital.
Dr. John Ekure, the head of the orthopedic department, said the exercise would take place during a workshop for East African orthopedic surgeons at the hospital.
"Patients with acquired or congenital hand deformities, injuries, tendon and nerve injuries, infections, burns or contractures will be assessed and those who deserve reconstructive surgery will be operated on," Ekure said.
The team comprises two surgeons from Ethiopia, two Tanzanians, two Rwandans, three Kenyans and five Ugandans, he added.
The workshop is organised by the African Medical and Research Foundation, an NGO which aims to reducing diseases with high mortality and morbidity and improve access to quality health services.
