The Kano state Directorate of Societal Re-Orientation (A daidaita Sahu) has called on the Association of Film Makers in Kano to urgently take drastic measures in sanitizing the industry by suspending film activities for at least one year, in order to bring sanity to their industries.
According to a statement signed by the Director General of the Directorate, Alhaji Bala Muhammad, the suspension of film activities was the only way out for the Association, pointing out that when there was a problem in film activities in Lagos, the Association of Film Makers in Lagos suspended film activities for six months, for it to be able to solve the problem.
The Directorate reiterated its call on the association of film makers that the suspension of film activities was the only way to appease the people of Kano State as they are very angry at the moment, pointing out that suspending some actors\actresses and few other changes was not enough.
The Directorate also called on Kano people to be patient and pray for Allah's guidance.
It would be recalled that Kano people were shocked and dismayed over a nude video involving a Hausa film actress, Maryam Usman, a scandal which made the Association of Film Makers suspend 23 members last week.
