Eritrea: Minister Arefaine And Mr. Hagos Gebrehiwet Conduct Work Tour in Southern Region

In the course of a work tour in the Southern region, the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Arefaine Berhe, and the Head of Economic Affairs at the PFDJ, Mr. Hagos Gebrehiwet, stated that the experience Eritrea is accumulating in the agricultural sector is registering major progress.

The two officials observed wheat flour farming on more than 5,000 hectares in the sub-zones of Dekemhare, Segeneiti, Adi-Keyih and Senafe. They were accompanied by the Administrator of the Southern region, Mr. Mustafa Nurhussein, sub-zone administrators and agriculture experts in the course of the visit. The officials further stressed the need for increased efforts on the part of the farming community so as to boost production.

Following a visit to agricultural areas in which the tested sorghum flour for beer-making has yielded satisfactory outcome, the officials were briefed by Mr. Seyum Gebreyesus, Administrator of Senafe sub-zone, on the good condition of farming plots that were planted this year in a better and expanded way.

Moreover, Mr. Arefaine and Mr. Hagos visited the Eigila-Demhina road network which is being constructed at big government expenditure. The Administrator of Adi-Keyih sub-zone, Mr. Abdu Idris, briefed them on endeavors underway to effectively carryout development tasks.
