Kigali — The national Under-17 football team is set to play its final group tie at the on-going Inaugural Cecafa U-17 youth championships when they take on hosts, Burundi at Prince Louis Rwagasore stadium this afternoon.
After a 100% positive start in the competition for both teams (Rwanda and Burundi), today's tie is a top of the bill group -A game after successfully qualifying for the semi-finals.
Just like Rwanda who recorded their second successive competition win after a 3-1 victory over Tanzania, Burundi also boasts of two wins; 6-0 against Somalia and 3-1 against Tanzania.
The winner of today's tie goes top although a draw would still favour Burundi who enjoy a superior goal difference after their 6-0 demolition against Somalia.
Somalia and Tanzania will also contend for the group's third spot later today.
In group B, Kenya had a strong start after a 2-1 victory over Zanzibar. Kenya are on top of the group with three points while Zanzibar and Uganda who are yet to play a game are jointly placed at the foot of the group.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has injected $ 68000(Frw. 37.400.000) while Tanzania President Jakaya Kikwete has donated trophies for the tournament winners.
