Ghana: Bicycles Given to Teachers in Deprived Areas

Konongo — SIXTY BICYCLES has been given to teachers both males and female at the deprived areas in the Asante Akim North District.

The District Director of Education in the Asante Akim North, Mr. N. T. Donkor stressed the need to give the bicycles to teachers in the deprived or under-served areas in the District.

He said some teachers in the Afram Plains are suffering a lot so there is the need to give them bicycles in order to motivate them to work harder to ensure national development process.

Mr. N. T. Donkor has stated that the bicycles are given to them free of charge through the Ministry of Education and Ghana Education Service.

He thanked the government for giving the bicycles to teachers at the deprive areas throughout the country. He urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the bicycle to serve the intended purpose of the government.

The District Chief Executive for Asante Akim North District, Mr. George Frimpong has commended the NPP government for its good policies for teacher in the country.

He said out of 2000 teachers in the District, only sixty teachers benefited but the rest would get theirs later because they are sharing them in batches.

Mr. Frimpong made a statement that though all teachers collect the same salary but those at the rural areas are suffering a lot and lack of social amenities.

He said the NPP government wishes to supply them free bicycles to motivate them to work harder so that they will get future leaders all over the country.

He advised them not to sell the bicycles to any other person else if they are caught they have a question to answer.

He advised the District Director of Education, Mr. Donkor to inspect the bicycle from time to time to make sure that nobody will sell them.

Madam Elizabeth Seribour, one of the beneficiaries thanked the government for given bicycle to the deprived teachers.

She appealed to the government to give them vehicle for the next donation so the deprive teachers will continue work harder.
