The Head of State has started meeting the leaders of the opposition in order to find a solution to the political impasse. Today, the head of State, Pierre Nkurunziza, will meet the leader of FRODEBU, MP Léonce Ngendakumana, in Ngozi province. Other sources indicate that President Nkurunziza also met the leader of Uprona party yesterday. The head of State is also to have talks with the European Union ambassadors there.

The head of state has so far been minimising the current political crisis that was heightened by a campaign that he undertook and which the opposition considers as a mere propaganda aimed at demonizing the opposition members of the parliament.

So much pressure was exerted on him by the international community. The Head of State was also short of a majority within his own party, CNDD-FDD, as prominent members of the parliament such MP Jean Marie Ngendahayo and Alice Ngendakumana signed a document calling the head of State to start talks with the opposition in order to set up a cabinet in accordance with the constitution.
