Uganda: 60-Year Old Diamond Trust Bank Rebrands

Kampala — DIAMOND Trust Bank Group is undergoing a re-branding exercise to give it a regional outlook.

Mahmood Manji, the chairman, said the group will adopt a new corporate logo and colours.

"The new corporate identity is contemporary in look and feel. We expect it to appeal to our current and prospective customers," Manji said.

The bank has undergone changes since it was established in mid-1940s.

It initially targeted a niche market but has been offering a broader range of products, following the conversion of its regional branches into commercial banks 10 years ago.

More recently, the bank in Kenya further broadened its market reach following its entry into retail banking in 2004.

The group's affiliates in Tanzania and Uganda are implementing a similar strategy and are scheduled to launch several new and innovative products and services tailored for the retail market, Manji explained.

Diamond Trust Bank is an affiliate of the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development.
