Harare — MOROKA Swallows' Zimbabwean born coach, Ian "Dibanko" Gorowa has apologised for assaulting Supersport United's coach, Gavin Hunt in a scuffle that followed Gorowa's loss to Hunt's team in a SAA Supa8 game at Olympia Stadium last weekend.
In his first public statement on the Swallows' website, Gorowa accused Hunt of swearing at him and took a swipe at him for telephoning his players a week before the big match, which his team eventually lost 2-1.
"I wish to make it clear that I do not condone unsporting behaviour in any way and as such it is regrettable that there was a minor incident after the game on Saturday," he said, adding: "I do feel it to be a bit unfair that I am being portrayed as the sole guilty party; Gavin Hunt has been a head coach for some time now and and will understand that actions such as telephoning my players in the week before the match, not shaking
my hand before the game and swearing
at me and my players during the game was not going to lead to a serene atmosphere."
Then he dropped the apology, "My apologies to all concerned".
A spokesman for the club thanked the coach for his statement and clarified the club's support to him.
Hunt said even though he was
disappointed by the behaviour of his counterpart at the Dube Birds, he had put the incident behind him and would treat it as though it had never happened.
"I don't want to talk
about it anymore. It happened on Saturday and I want to forget about it quickly. In fact, it is now water under the bridge," Hunt told eTV late night edition on Monday.
He said he would not be pressing charges against Gorowa, who landed him a blow on his face on Saturday.
