Luena — The life and political deeds of the Angolan Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, were Thursday highlighted during a seminar opening of celebrations of the President's 65th anniversary, in Luena city, eastern Moxico province.
Addressing the topic "Life and work of President José Eduardo dos Santos", the provincial vice governor for the social and economic sphere, Francisco Cambango spoke on the Head of State's in the national liberation struggle against Portuguese colonialism that ended with the achievement of peace in 2002.
"The President reinforced his effort in searching for peaceful and diplomatic solutions that ended with the establishment of the Government of Unity and National Reconciliation (GURN)", aimed at creating a climate of brotherhood, freedom, justice, peace and social progress", he said.
In the current phase of national reconstruction, he added, the anniversary is the main encouragement of the process, above all, in the solving of basic and social problems of the population, ranging from fighting hunger and poverty, and the main endemic diseases affecting the country.
Through his personal engagement, as to Francisco Cambango, the President managed, either in the national or international arena, to obtain the recognition of a Statesman with universal reputation.
The provincial vice governor urged the population to actively participate in the national reconstruction programme planed by Government, as well as in the activities to commemorate the Head of State's 65th anniversary to be marked on August 28.
