Eritrea: High-Level Military And Security Committee of Country, Libya Chad And Sudan Holds Meeting in Tripoli

Tripoli

In line with the agreement reached among Eritrea, Libya, Chad and Sudan on February 2007 to improve relations between Sudan and Chad, the high-level meeting of the Eritrean, Libyan, Chadian and Sudanese Military and Security Committee was held in Tripoli on August 22 and 23.

The Committee assessed the efforts being exerted, the present stable security and military situation between Chad and Sudan and the improved relations between the two countries. It further agreed to set up a supervising committee comprising the four countries along the Sudanese- Chadian border so as to boost the promising situation so far reached, as well as reinforce trust.

The Sudanese and Chadian delegations on their part commended President Isaias Afwerki and the Libyan leader, Col. Muammar Al-Khadifi for the efforts they made in improving Sudanese-Eritrean relations and promoting peace and stability in the two countries.

The Head of Organizational Affairs at the PFDJ, Mr. Abdalla Jabir, and the Commander of Operation Zone 1, Brig. General Tekle Kiflai attended the meeting representing Eritrea.

Meanwhile, it has been decided that the next meeting of the High-level Military and Security Committee would be held in Asmara.
