Lagos — Aquitane Oil and Gas, the new company in the energy industry also carving a niche for themselves in the area of sports development has congratulated the Golden Eaglets for their first round performance in the ongoing World Under 17 Championships in Korea.
The Eaglets won all their matches to top their group and now face Columbia in the round of 16.
"I think that our team has shown great character and they deserve great commendation. I congratulate them and urge them to continue in their stride in the remaining matches until the cup is won," Ike Okolo, the Managing Director of the company said yesterday.
Meanwhile, Delta State which hosts Super Eagles in the Nations Cup qualifier against Lesotho in Warri has stepped up preparation for the September 8 event with Access Bank accepting to be a major sponsor.
The bank that is currently in the capital market boosting their base will be backing the organisation of the match with sponsorship money running into millions of Naira. Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, who has repeatedly described the match as important to Delta people, has also joined the Local Organising Committee to ensure September 8 is a spectacle that would further attract more international matches in Delta and consequently generate business in the area.
"We are all working together to make it a huge success, the type that would bring business and send clear message of peace and business environment in Delta State," Uduaghan told local and international media at the weekend in Lagos.
Super agles manager, Berti Vogts classed the facilities in Warri, venue of the match, as excellent and the governor has given his words that "we shall not fail Nigeria." More sponsors are likely to join Delta this week
