Nairobi — As Kenyans prepare for the General Election, the Catholic Church has released a document to guide is faithful.
Releasing the pastoral letter on Saturday, the Kenya Episcopal Conference chairman, Archbishop John Njue, said the Church has an obligation to give directions on diverse issues.
The Catholic clerics want the electorates to choose leaders who are honest, development-conscious and out to unite the country. He accused politicians of dividing the country into tribal regions as they woo votes.
Speaking at the Nyahururu Catholic parish during a funds drive, the cleric revealed the letter, drafted by all Catholic bishops in Kenya, would soon be available in all churches.
In the November 2005 referendum on Draft constitution, the Catholic Church failed to take position, asking its faithful to exercise their democratic rights individually.
