Barentu — The Barentu-Shambuko road that was unsuitable for transportation is now under repair. According to Mr. Teki'e Keleta, head of infrastructure in Gash-Barka region, the old road running through Barentu-Sossina-Ashoshi-Karkasha-Binbina-Shambuko is now being replaced by a new road network that passes through Barentu-Kona-Kuluku-Karna-Binbina-Shambuko.
The new route would be 11 km. shorter than the old a 50 km.- long narrow and unreliable road, he added. The task is being undertaken by Segen Construction Company and that the first phase is expected to be finalized after two months.
The beneficiaries of the facility expressed satisfaction with the undertaking in that it would alleviate their problems.
