Bujumbura — The President of the Republic of Burundi categorically denies any fabrication of a coup aimed at silencing the opposition parties.
This was announced by the spokesman of the President of the Republic, Mr Léonidas Hatungimana, in a press conference that was held on August 29th specifically to refute the allegations that collaborators of the Head of State are counselling to proclaim a State of Exception.
This denial follows a series of reports aired by a local radio station, Radio Publique Africaine, whose investigations have revealed the existence of a coup under preparation aimed at bolstering the power of the current head of state who now lacks the support of a majority in the lower house of the parliament.
"The President of the Republic has never been given such a piece of advice," Mr. Leonidas Hatungimana said, indicating that President of the Republic controls the movements of his aides.
