More than 34 000 people passed through the show gates on Wednesday, surpassing last year's attendance by more than 14 000.

A total of 34 607 people attended the show on Wednesday as compared to the 20 223 people last year. Zimbabwe Agricultural Society spokesman Mr Daniel Muhau said this was a sign the show was growing each year. More people are expected at the Exhibition Park today to witness the official opening of the show.

Equatorial Guinea President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo will officially open the show. He will tour a number of stands accompanied by President Mugabe before addressing guests in the Glamis Arena. Those invited to the official opening are expected to be seated by 1345 hours. School children in uniform can enter for free today."This is another day we have organised for children to come in and appreciate the event, mix with others and get entertained," Mr Muhau said.
