Eritrea: Micro-Dams and Water Reservoirs Constructed in Maekel Region

In line with the on-going soil and water conservation activities, three major micro-dams and two water reservoirs have been constructed in the Central region at a cost of over 13 million Nakfa.

Over 9 million Nakfa has been disbursed for the construction of the micro-dams in Ade'reada, Adikontsi and Tselot, while more than 1 million has been expended for the renovation of a micro-dam in Adikontsi.

Meanwhile, a 90,000-cubic meter water reservoir in Adibidel and another one with a capacity of holding 40,000 cubic meters in Adikeih have been finalized at a cost of 4 million Nakfa.

In a related report, about 40 km-long terraces and 238-cubic meter of embankments have been put in place. In addition, over 117,000 tree seedlings have been planted.
