Eritreans who live in Australia, Jeddah and Kuwait marked the 46th anniversary of Bahti Meskerem (First of September), the date in which the Eritrean people's armed struggle was launched, in a patriotic spirit. Different programs were staged on the occasion, highlighting the historic date.

Speaking at a gathering in Melbourne, the Head of Community and Consular Affairs, Mr. Beshir Idris, stressed the significance of Bahti Meskerem in Eritrean history and indicated that the impressive achievements registered in national development programs and safeguarding the nation's sovereignty over the past 17 years attests the firm unity of the Eritrean people. He further called on citizens to reinforce their resistance and readiness to meet any contingency.

Likewise, the Head of Public Affairs in Jeddah and its environs, Mr. Salih Mohammed Sabbe, delivered a speech at the gathering of Eritreans, outlining the significance of Bahti Meskerem.

Also in the celebrations held in Kuwait, Ambassador Mohammed Omar Chirum explained that the historic date reminds us of the heavy responsibility we shoulder in building a nation in which future generations can lead a life of peace and prosperity.
