Burundi: Clashes Between FNL Wings Create Insecurity in Kinama

Bujumbura — Clashes between combatants of FNL Palipehutu loyal to Agathon Rwasa and dissident combatants continue to create insecurity as both sides remains at loggerheads in the northern outskirts of the city of Bujumbura.

Following clashes that took place in the quarter of Buhinyuza of Kinama commune last Sunday at 9 o'clock, inhabitants of Buhinyuza and quarters that are close to this area, namely Quartier Bubanza, Bukirasazi and Buterere, were forced to spend the night outside their households for fear of the fighting.

Buhinyuza is harbouring many posts of FNL combatants loyal to Agathon Rwasa while the dissidents are stationed at Buterere.

The clashes that broke out yesterday did not claim any humain casualties, but brought back fear to this area where many extrajudicial killings were committed after CNDD-FDD won elections.
