Bujumbura — MP Jean Marie NGENDAHAYO, a prominent figure in CNDD-FDD, has resigned from the ruling party. He accuses it of having dictatorial tendencies since it has been led by MP Jérémie NGENDAKUMANA.
In a letter that he addressed to the leader of the party, he indicates some of the shortcomings that plague CNDD-FDD and which led him to resign. He writes that important decisions are taken out of the known circles and that only past combatants or those who know where to get money for the party are respected.
MP NGENDAHAYO resigns from the ruling party two days after the large celebrations marking two years since CNDD-FDD gained power. MP Jean-Marie NGENDAHAYO was one of the 65 members of parliament and senators who signed a letter urging the head of state to resume negotiations with the opposition parties in order to set up a new cabinet that is in conformity with the constitution of the Republic of Burundi.
MP NGENDAHAYO was also part of the team that was dispatched to inform the leaders of the region about the fake coup that sent the former president of the Republic, Senator NDAYIZEYE, to prison last year.
