Luanda — Angola's Ministry of Urbanisation and Environment will hold on September 16 in the north-central Malanje Province, a sensitisation and information seminar on the Vienna Convention and Montreal Protocol, which set the need to preserve the Ozone Layer.
A communiqué from the National Ozone Layer Unit states that the meeting is part of the activities to commemorate the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, to be marked on September 16.
The Angolan government has ratified the Vienna Convention and the Montreal Protocol on 18 June 1998, reason why the authorities take this issue even more seriously.
The Ozone Layer is made up of gases in the sky, which prevent harmful radiation from the sun from reaching the Earth.
