Industrial Commercial and Development Corporation (ICDC) chairman, Kent Libiso has been inducted into the 2007 AIESEC alumni Hall of Fame.

AIESEC is the French acronym for the International Association of Students in Economics and Commerce.

It is present in over 800 universities in over 90 countries and territories.

Mr Libiso is the fourth local recipient of the global award sponsored by PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC) and DHL. He received the award in Istanbul, Turkey on August 26 from PWC global human capital leader Richard Baird and DHL Express vice president Martin Wandmaker.

Previous Kenyan recipients of the award are Symphony IT CEO Mike Eldon, East African Breweries Limited (EABL) group managing director Gerald Mahinda, and Housing Finance managing director Frank Ireri.

The annual award honours AIESEC Alumni who have demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities, excelled in their professions and served as role models and mentors to young future business leaders over a period of 20 years. PWC have been partners of AIESEC International for the past 30 years, and DHL Express for over 10 years.

The Hall of Fame Award was introduced in 2000. This year, seven recipients were honoured, including Mr Libiso. Prior to his appointment as ICDC chairman by President Kibaki in 2006, Mr Libiso was a consultant to Nokia Corporation, among other firms.

He currently serves AIESEC on an advisory role and as a mentor to students in the nine universities where AIESEC Kenya has offices.
